Movie Review: 2.0

The graphics was really good. At times it was on par with some Hollywood films. Akshay Kumar's acting was good.. but heavily underused compared to the hype that was created pre-release. Chitti was shit! Worse than in Enthiran. Version 2.0 was good, but if they had removed Rajini's face an made it fully graphics with motion capture, would have been perfect. First half is dull, 2nd half is interesting. Emy Jackson was not required for the script (except in 3 or 4 scenes).. Akshay's solo backstory scenes were really great, again good acting.. Rajini should just stick to being Dr.Vaseegaran if a sequel comes and not be a robot. The 3D effects were actually better than some English movies (maybe coz the film was shot in 3D itself). Strong and powerful story. Could have had better dialogues. BGM by ARR was as always awesome. Having no songs made the movie better to watch.. Worth watching the movie in 3D.. —  watching 2.0 with Abdul Basith at Empire Cineplex.

3.5/5 is my review (mainly for the graphics, BGM and Akshay Kumar).

Tip: There is a post credits scene. So dont leave early.

 A long, long wait and the movie is finally out. I didnt realize the movie was out may be due to the situation but social media sure didnt let it pass through. A long time in waiting, the movie was finally available for the world to see.  First reaction, the trailer and the movie seem to be in two different worlds. You get no idea at all about the storyline of the movie by watching the trailer. Although a little confusing in the beginning to follow, the movie finally settles in. Its not your typical Dhanush movie of even tamil movie.. It follows a God Father like style low key gangster type with a sub plot all along. Not everyone is going to like this style.  Dhanush as always maintaining the balance. The support characters doing a good job too. The "Sri Lankan Tamil culture" could have been researched and been brought out a little more but then, its an Indian film. Karthik's request for empathy could have been followed by himself a bit more.  Loved the cinematograph...

Movie Review: Mookuthi Amman

 RJ Balaji gives yet another entertainment focused film. Very strong and controversial topic, ok story, meh jokes.. After months of not watching a new tamil movie, this was something better than nothing.. Nayanthara was on point in her acting.. RJB as usual is the fun guy with baggage who looses temper and comes up with a plan.. That seems to be his style now..  Nothing impressive in the music.. some obvious technical oversights like peoples turning their heads to the TV before the channel changes (in multiple shots) or the number one trending hashtag having a space between the two words and some VFX being not upto standards.. The guy who acts as the fake swamy did his part very well..  Overall, simple family entertainment film.. nothing serious. Not so funny.. My rating: 5/10

Movie Review: Vettaiyan

Rajini is not yet finished! Its been 5 days since the movie released and all reports indicate the movie is still going strong. I've already watched the movie twice. On the opening night and during the weekend and on both days, the show was more than 75% full.  After the success of Jailer in 2023, expectations for Vettaiyan were not very much with the makers of the movie keeping the hype and expectations low, but with the release of the movie and the positive word of mouth feedback, the movie is on track to become yet another massive hit for Thalaivar.  Straight up, the movie is a T.J.Gnanavel movie with the mass moments built in for the hardcore Rajini fans. The story in the movie is completely different to what I and many others expected it to be after watching the prevue and trailer.
